Lost or taken, now found

Missing from Birkdale/Glenfield Auckland New Zealand

Please help us find this dog as his owner is desperate to have him back.

Tookey was found by his owner on the 10th of September 2004 after going missing on the 29th June 2004, this is her story.

Hi everyone,

Guess you all know of his return and Im the happiest girl in the world!

Been getting heaps of emails and texts so thought I would do a group one to let you all know.

Okay, so here goes.....

Felt pretty determined to find him yesterday. Ali and I went out just after 6pm last night and walked the streets in the rain etc calling, but nothing. We then had fish and chips and Ali went home. I went back out and sat for a few hours in the last known place he was seen the other night. Still nothing. Just after 10pm I packed it in and went home. Had just drifted off to sleep when my flat mate said that a man was calling about the dog and that he had just seen it. Spoke to this man who said Tookes had just been in his garden....so off I went, dont remember getting there....but pretty sure it was fast! The man was kindly waiting for me at the top of a ROW. He lived miles down the bottom of the ROW, he said Tookes was in his garden and he opened his door and he ran off, he thinks to another long ROW heading to the left. So off I went calling, there was some bush there so I was sure that is where he would be, called and called...started to think he didn't know my voice, then I heard movement in the bush and just stopped and called and told him he was a good boy and then out popped this beautiful black head. I didn't try and grab him and just let him come to me and he did and took one sniff and was all over me, even jumping up etc. By this time I was crying my eyes out, sobbing like a nutter!! He was so happy to see me though, so clung to him so he couldn't run away and we got to the top of the drive and he went straight up to my car and I opened the boot and he just jumped right on in!!!

I went back to the man who called me and just threw myself at the poor guy and cried on his shoulder! He was very lovely and I told him there was a reward which he refused to accept but I will be going over with a large gift basket anyway, cause without that man I would have never of found him.

He is very very skinny but otherwise fine, had him at the vet this morning and she said he is in tip top condition actually...even not too skinny, although looking at him is very hard breaks my heart cause he is soooo skinny!!!! Feeding him little bits at a time to get him used to food again.

He is still the same beautiful boy I know and love to bits, he was even bounding around the back yard very happy to be home. I can tell you Domino my cat is a little put out, she isn't queen bee any longer but all that much more happier cause she gets two meals, hers and eating out of Tookey's bowl.

I cannot thank those who helped me look for him day in and day out rain or shine, I never gave up on him and Im lucky to have people who loved him enough to help.

Im the happiest girl in the world.
